Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero

Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero tells the remarkable story of a stray dog who found a young soldier, crossed an ocean as a stowaway, served beside American troops in France, and came home a hero.

Before he belonged to history, Stubby was simply a little dog looking for a place to belong. He found that place with Private Robert Conroy and the men of the 102nd Infantry Regiment. What followed became one of the most moving stories of courage, loyalty, friendship, and service in American history.

When Stubby returned home, he was no longer a stray. He marched in parades, met presidents, inspired veterans, delighted children, and became part of America’s shared memory.
